Tutorial – let’s be creative – WAYS TO CUSTOMIZE SHIRTS
It is so simple to customize tops and T-shirts, but also always something special and personal – something unique. And here some ideas what I do with a boring shirt.
PAINT YOUR SHIRT
Buy a nice top, in a shape you like. If you want to paint on the shirt, I find it easiest to paint in bright or pastel colours. Of course there are also colours for darker backgrounds, but I prefer the texture and effect of bright colours and white. You can paint freehand or make a stencil.
HOW TO MAKE A STENCIL
Find a nice picture online and change in Gimp or Photoshop the colours to black and white (if you want to have a tutorial on how to do this, leave me a comment and I will do one). Cut the black pieces out and stick the stencil on your shirt. Then start to use – carefully – a piece of sponge (not too much paint!!!) and fill in the picture.
If you want to paint freehand, you have the option to either paint with a brush or to use fabric pens.
DECORATE YOUR SHIRT
- Find a lovely shirt (in the shop, in your mother’s wardrobe, in your own??)
- Find your decoration: Be open for everything, because everything could be your personal design-element. I used flowers on sale from H and M (1 Pound for two) and lovely beads in pearl-effect – luckily they were all the same colour as the T-shirt I bought, powder-pink.
- I started to sew the pearls and the flowers on the T-shirt, in the shape I had already chosen and painted on a piece of paper beforehand. (I used some Viseline to fix the area where I sew the pearls). And that’s it!
Have fun and be creative 🙂
